"America is Back" President Obama

The Republican response by Mitch Daniels was pitiful. Said absolutely nothing new..and offered no real helpful solutions to so many pressing problems. The ONLY thing that approached a reasonable solution was the idea of means testing for medicare and social security for the wealthy - which is a reasonable idea..and which should be passed poste haste. Harped again on cutting the social safety net (social security and medicare) for coming generations. Same old tired message - let the wealthy have lower tax rates than average citizens (and trust us it will trickle down) and cut long standing social safety net programs despite the fact that every American of working age pays into those programs their entire lives. Perhaps it is time for a contract with working American citizens who contribute to ss and medicare wherein the gov't must guarantee what citizens will get in return for their contributions when they reach retirement age. Otherwise we are all going to fiind that it has diminished down to little of nothing by the time we need it. It's like buying an insurance policy from an insurer with the power to continually change the terms of the policy until its worth nothing when you finally need to file a claim. Folks...it's all about choices and priorities...social security and medicare can and should be preserved in their current form. Progressive taxation and some hard choices about other kinds of spending are where the solutions are to be found.

Republicans divided this country from the day Bush took office and they will Never stop the obstructionism and misinformation that they feel will put them back in power after they caused this worst recession in hostory with their wealth transfere schemes like the 'tricle down" conjob of 30 years.
The Only way to save America for ALL it's citizens is to vote out every single Teapublican in our government and Never ever allow them in power again ever! They have repeatedly shown they represent just 1% of the people in this country and that they prefere a Fascist Oligarchy form of government to a Democracy. Vote them Out in 2012 or decide that we will have Another 4 years of obstructionism and misinformation campaigns.

Senator Haugen on Gay Marriage

I know this announcement makes me the so-called 25th vote, the vote that ensures passage. That’s neither here nor there. If I were the first or the seventh or the 28th vote, my position would not be any different. I happen to be the 25th because I insisted on taking this much time to hear from my constituents and to sort it out for myself, to reconcile my religious beliefs with my beliefs as an American, as a legislator, and as a wife and mother who cannot deny to others the joys and benefits I enjoy. …
I have very strong Christian beliefs, and personally I have always said when I accepted the Lord, I became more tolerant of others. I stopped judging people and try to live by the Golden Rule. This is part of my decision. I do not believe it is my role to judge others, regardless of my personal beliefs. It’s not always easy to do that. For me personally, I have always believed in traditional marriage between a man and a woman. That is what I believe, to this day.
But this issue isn’t about just what I believe. It’s about respecting others, including people who may believe differently than I. It’s about whether everyone has the same opportunities for love and companionship and family and security that I have enjoyed.

Look at what republicans did under Bush, they tried to deregulate everything with the result being a economic crash of 07-08. They didn't stop there look at what they did, they got back in the house and then told America there were to many regulation, any regulation is preventing the job creators from preventing jobs and causing uncertainty. Basically saying to America any regulation is to much, we don't need any. They have continued down that same path.

Basically they are working very hard for the corporations to turn America into a corptocracy. Anything that the President either want's to put in place or prevent the republicans doing away with, they call it job destroying regulations.

They don't work for America they work for corporations.

Respect our Planet

Is it radical to care for our country, our world, our children and grandchildren, our future? It seems more radical for a government to come out swinging in favour of an industrial project in advance of public hearings into that project.

Rainbow Sash Movement To Enter Cathedral of St. Paul on Halloween

The Rainbow Sash Movement is calling on its members and supporter to wear the Rainbow Sash at Archbishops Neinstedt Catholic Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul/Minneapolis during the noon Mass on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010. We are calling for a prayerful and respectful presence at the Cathedral of St. Paul.

This is in response to Archbishop Neinstedt infuriated many Catholics statewide by distributing a DVD to more than 400,000 of Minnesota Catholics in defense of traditional marriage. In the DVD, entitled “Preserving Marriage in Minnesota,” Neinstedt said, “At best so-called same-sex marriage is an untested social experiment, and at worst it poses a dangerous risk with potentially far-reaching consequences.”

Recently Neinstedt also took the unusual step of denying communion to college students wearing rainbow-colored ribbons during a Mass he said at the College of Saint Benedict and St. John’s University, a Catholic liberal arts school located 70 miles from Minneapolis.

Our presence at the Cathedral will be attempt to engage in visible dialogue with Archbishop Niestedt. The Rainbow Sash is worn as a symbol of self-identification. It is usually worn on Pentecost Sunday, but given the current situation in the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis the Board of Directors of the Rainbow Sash Movement have voted to allow this unusual step by local members and supporters to enter the Cathedral wearing the Rainbow Sash.

Target and Unfair-Labor-Practice

The National Labor Relations Board has added to charges that retail giant Target violated the law in the run-up to a failed unionization vote at its Valley Stream, L.I., location last year, alleging that supervisors interrogated workers about their support for the campaign and threatened to close the store if the union came in and organized a strike.
Other new unfair-labor-practice charges pertain to an employee handbook that was revised in 2009 and contains policies prohibiting employees from sharing confidential company information with each other. The confidentiality policy, which comes with penalty of termination or prosecution, could prevent workers from discussing their salaries with each other, making organizing more challenging.
