When campaigning for the Democrat against the Tea Party candidate in Southern Indiana, my friend kept hearing that the Democrat wanted to take away medicare. Complete opposite of reality, but these folks believe it. My ex works for Unemployment in Kentucky. Same thing - he always gets people in there who think Rand Paul is the one who's going to keep their unemployment coming.
