Sick Around the World * Japan * Part 1

8 comments:

  1. What is our problem in the US? What's so complex or less liberating about the plan in Japan. I'll tell you what it is, there's no profit involved for insurance companies, doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers, etc. Who wins in this situation? We would, the consumer/patient.

  2. Thank you for the comment. Why would the R want to reinstate our previous health care system?

  3. Louis, I believe Anonymous answered your question. Why would anybody want to continue our current system. Because the consumer wins. That simple.

  4. Pops, you are sadly mistaken by my comment. The consumer is NOT the winner in our current system (pre-Obama) because big lobbyists in Washington representing the LARGE profit making machine of the current health care system only care about how much money they can make from all Americans. Remember, Obama's health care reforms don't begin to take effect until 2013!

  5. The new health care bill is not perfect but it is a step in the right direction. I don't understand the R opposition to this bill? What is not to like?!

  6. Anonymous,

Through the profit making system you describe as lobbyists the best health care system in the world has been created. I guess the difference between a liberal and a Conservative is: Profit is not a dirty word to a Conservative, it must be to a liberal.

Oh yes I remember Obamacare doesn't take effect until 2013 UNFORTUNATELY, the payments begin TODAY! I call that the cart before the horse!

  7. I have no problems with profits that are reasonable. The insurance industry has made record profits the last several years while denying claims, rejecting any new patients that have had any pre-existing conditions more severe than the flu, and raising all premiums and co-pays to such ridiculous amounts that a lot of middle class families have problems paying these amounts! What are you so afraid of, that a Democratic President passed a bill that you might actually appreciate before you die?

  8. Why should the health care industry be allowed to make a profit at the expence of the American people? The practice of allowing the health care industry to set the rates is not allowed in any industrial country in the world.
